The International Women’s Day which is observed on  8th March was celebrated at Partap College of Education, Ludhiana. Dr. Sarita Bahl, Principal D.D. Jain Memorial College of Education was the main speaker of this event.

Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Vice Principal of the college introduced her to the audience by highlighting her achievements in the field of education. In her address Dr. Sarita Bahl  brought out the role of woman in family and society. She emphasised this day is to celebrate the achievements of woman in various fields and also to express our respect , appreciation & love towards the most powerful gender. Focusing this she further added that on one hand she is worshipped as a deity in Indian society. but on other she is not given that honour which she deserved. She needs to place her own position in all spheres of life like many other examples that are already present in the society i.e. Indra Nooyi, Kalpana Chawla and Mary Kom. If she has that determination and courage there is no power that can stop her.

Dr. Balwant Singh,Principal of the college also presented his views regarding this special occasion. He accented the importance of this day by saying that the celebration is being only done because no other species possess such plethora of attributes. History has written the efforts of woman in golden words. Either it is domestic work or various other professional walks of life, a woman has achieved pinnacle in every case.

Students too gave their views on woman empowerment- its need and ongoing scenarios. A cultural show too was carried out which emphasised the role of women in society. The day was concluded by proposing  vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Ms. Poonam Bala.
