An educational tour to Shimla and Chhatbir Zoo was organized by Partap College of Education from 13th to 15th April 2026 with the objective of promoting experiential learning, environmental awareness and holistic student development beyond the conventional classroom setting.
The tour included the participation of students from B.Ed Semester II and Semester IV, accompanied by faculty in-charges Mr. Pardeep Singh, Mrs. Alka Joshi, Dr. Parveen Sharma and Dr. Khushpreet Kaur. The programme was carefully planned to integrate academic enrichment with exposure to cultural and ecological contexts.
During the visit to Shimla, students explored significant locations such as The Ridge, Mall Road, and Jakhoo Temple. These sites provided valuable insights into the historical, cultural and geographical characteristics of the region. The journey itself was a memorable aspect of the tour. Students actively participated in recreational activities during the bus travel, enjoying music, group singing and dance. This not only created a lively and joyful atmosphere but also strengthened peer bonding and contributed to emotional well-being, making the learning experience more engaging and holistic.
On 15th April 2026, the group visited Chhatbir Zoo during the return journey. This visit offered an opportunity to observe diverse wildlife species within a semi-natural habitat, thereby enhancing students’ awareness of biodiversity, conservation practices, and ecological balance. The tour was conducted in a well-organized and systematic manner, ensuring safety, discipline and active participation throughout. It played a vital role in fostering stronger interpersonal relationships between students and faculty, while enhancing teamwork, collaboration, and social competencies, thereby contributing to the comprehensive professional and personal growth of prospective teachers. The tour also left the participants with cherished memories that they will treasure for a lifetime.
