Partap College of Education, India organised an international online meeting in collaboration with Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Kazan Federal University, Kazan, Russia. The meeting was organised as sequential part of international webinar held on 27-10-2022 on the theme “” Cultural Corner. The tale of two Civilisation: India- Russia” during which the students of both institutes presented their reports on different aspects of their respective cultures. The follow up meeting held on 9 November was a continuation of the discussion and deliberations on the topic and it precisely focused to provide a platform and opportunities for the students and faculty to get acquainted with the cultural aspects of Russian and Indian societies. The agenda points of the meeting were-Why should we know and preserve our traditions, preserve our language, culture and history? Why should we teachers teach patriotism? What does it mean to be a patriot?

Ms Balwinder Kaur, Asst. Prof. of Partap College welcomed all the attendees. In the opening session of the meeting, students from India and Russia presented two short videos prepared by them on the topic proposed for discussion followed by a healthy interactive session.  Prof. Balwant Singh, Director, Partap College of Education, while presenting his views on the agenda points of the meeting asserted that culture of any country is its reflection, it plays a major role in the lives of everyone in the society and it gives a sense of belonging.

Prof. Tatiana Pimenova from KFU, Russia also expressed her opinion on role of educators for developing the feeling of patriotism among young generation. She proclaimed that the basic form of patriotism is to love own country and by making it part of curricular activities students would be able to slowly develop the sense of pride for own country which leads to patriotism.

All the participants made their presence felt by their active contribution in the discussion by asking and answering the questions. The meeting was closed with informative and valuable remarks presented by Dr Manpreet Kaur, Principal, Partap College of Education, India. She motivated the faculty and students of both institutes to organise and participate in such international academic events as they not only strengthen the intercultural relationship but also proves useful for improving the presentation and communication skills.
