International Forum on Teacher Education

Prof. Balwant Singh, Director and Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal, Partap College of Education, Ludhiana represented India in VII  International Forum on Teacher Education organised by Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Kazan Federal University, Russian Academy of Education, Federal Academic Methodological Association in the system of higher education on the integrated group of degree programs & Education and pedagogical sciences on the theme  “Teacher Education: New Challenges and Goals”. More than 1500 participants from 40 countries joined the Forum which turned the Forum into a large research community with one shared vision to make teacher education more effective, productive and modernized in the world.

Researchers and scholars from various countries participated in different   events such as- Symposia, SIG (Special Interest Group) sessions, Paper sessions, round table discussions, Workshops, Special sessions, Poster sessions. Prof. Balwant Singh represented India in symposium on “Globalization and teacher education in the BRICS countries” and spoke on the topic ‘Teacher education in India’. He asserted that rapid changes which are occurring in all spheres of life and society are eyeing towards change in the concept of teacher education worldwide. He highlighted the changed teacher education scenario of India after implementation of NCTE (National Council of Techer Education, Govt. of India) new regulation 2014 and NEP (National Education Policy) 2020 to meet global standards and to find out the impact of these new regulations on current status of teacher education. He also expounded the emerging issues in international teacher education practices and the practices helping to improve the teacher education in India.

Dr. Manpreet Kaur in Special Interest Group session on “Strategies for Transforming Teacher Education: lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic” presented her research report on the topic “Resilience and self-efficacy as mediators between perceived stress and life satisfaction among Indian women teachers during COVID-19”. She also expressed that participation in international events like IFTE 2021 helps to compare the unique experience of different countries in the transformation of education policies, the best practices and teaching technologies, and identify international trends in teacher education for the next few years.
