The martyrdom day of Saheed Bhagat Singh Ji was celebrated as youth Empowerment Day in Partap College of Education, Ludhiana as instructed by Punjab Govt. On this occasion, the principal of Partap College Dr. Balwant Singh, vice principal. Dr. Manpreet Kaur, all the staff members and students (B.Ed, D.El.Ed) were present.

In the beginning of the function Mrs. Parveen Sharma, the Assistant Professor of this college described the importance of this day. All the students and the staff members  took pledge as “Drug Abuse Prevention Officers” to stay away from drugs. After that the students told about the lives of Bhagat  Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. Students also presented a skit on Shaheed Bhagat Singh life. Bhagat Singh’s sacrifice was remembered by presenting the songs and poems also.

Mrs. Poonam Bala, Assistant Professor of the college motivated the young generation to aware others about drugs. Dr. Balwant Singh the principal of the college motivated the students  to make a decision by keeping balance between their mind and heart. He told about the harmful effects of the drugs and gave the message to say ‘No’ to the drugs. He has been the strict opponent of drugs and a founder member of Drug De addiction Centre, that was opened in 1992 at Bathinda. According to him, every educated person should do continuous efforts  to make his society drug free.
