Partap college of Education, Ludhiana, celebrated World Physiotherapy Day with the members of Indian Association of Physiotherapist Women Cell today i.e. 08-09-2018. Dr. Ruchika Bansal and her team came here to create awareness among the mass. Vice principal Dr. Manpreet Kaur welcomed and introduced them to the audience. Dr. Ruchika told that Physiotherapy is a treatment of diseases, injury and deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment and exercises rather than drugs and surgery. It promotes mobility and function. Physiotherapy which is also known as physical therapy helps a heart patient to recover from stroke and helps a diabetic patient to manage diabetes. The functions of physiotherapists are to restore and maintain the normal movement of the body.
Dr. Ruchika told that the moto of their profession is to make people their own doctors without using medicines. She added that physiotherapy has no side effects on our body. She emphasized that prevention is better than cure. Further she performed various exercises of spine, neck, toes and legs which are specifically important for teachers. She made the audience aware of the right postures of sitting, standing, eating etc. Later on she talked about the utility of laughing exercise which is very easy, economical and makes people stress free.
Principal Dr. Balwant Singh appreciated the endeavour of the team and congratulated them as they are spreading the message to stay fit. He told us about three bones like wish or will bone, back bone and funny bone to make our life active. He honoured Dr. Ruchika Bansal and her team and presented memanto. At the end, a vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Alka Joshi, Assistant Professor of this college.
