The students, their parents and grandparents, and staff of Partap College of Education, Ludhiana, participated in various activities to mark the International Day of Yoga. The college campus was abuzz with activity with students pouring in cheerfully and their beaming faces telling tales of their pursuing yoga asanas as part of their daily routine.

The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. The theme for the 2017 celebration is ‘Yoga for Health’. Keeping in view this mission and march towards a good health through yoga, the volunteers were also given knowledge about the benefits of different yoga asanas.

Yoga expert, Prof. Ram Paul, Incharge, Yoga Kendra of the college, had been training the students regularly as Yoga is a part of the curriculum as well. Students had been practicising various asanas, including Tadasana (good for increasing height of children), Pada-Hastasana (beneficial for the health of spine), Bhujangasana, Vajrasana (improves digestion); Pranayams including Bhramari Pranayama, Anuloma-Viloma Pranayama; and Suryanamskars. The programme ended in Shanti Paath. The convener of the programme was Mr. Pardeep Singh, Assistant Professor, Partap College of Education, Ludhiana.

Dr. Balwant Singh, Principal, Partap College of Education congratulated the students for their active involvement in making this event a success. He also motivated to carry forward this practice and make yoga a way of life for all times to come. He extended his heartfelt thanks to the host of participants drawn from across three generations for their enthusiastic participation.
