In the presence of Prof. Balwant Singh, Director and Dr Manpreet Kaur, Principal of the college, Ms. Swastika elucidated modern teaching techniques to be used in classroom. She also conducted a workshop on preparing useful learning modules to make teaching more lucid and interesting. College students enthusiastically participated in the workshop and prepared learning menus on the chosen subjects.

Prof. Balwant Singh while highlighting the importance of innovative techniques in teaching, stressed upon the skills of teachers. He asserted that modern methods and gamifications are important to know about but teachers’ own skills, behaviour, knowledge and their passion towards their profession are pivotal for the teachers. Dr Kaur in her speech also expressed that its necessary for the teachers to be tech savvy and updated with all upcoming knowledge to meet needs of their future students. She motivated the pupil teachers to fully utilize their training phase in more productive way and hone their teaching skills by adopting technology. She incentivized all to imbibe humanistic values to be good teachers.

At the end, token of love and appreciation was presented to Ms Swastika and  Ms Baishakhi, Asst. Prof. of the college presented vote of thanks.

A meeting of the Punjab State School Forum (IPDA India cell) was held on Sunday 08-03-2020 at Partap College of Education, Ludhiana under the chairmanship of Dr. Balwant Singh, Director, Partap College of Education and Chair IPDA India. Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, Principal, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Jagraon, Mr. Rajesh Khanna, Principal, Govt. Sen. Sec. School, Kasabad, Dr. Jagdev Singh Rana, Principal, GTB IMT, Dakha, Col Amarjit Singh, Principal, Senior Sec Residential School, Ludhiana, Mr. Jaspal Singh, Govt. High School, Ayali Kalan, Mr. Kuldeep Kumar and Mr. Gurkirpal Singh working as school teachers attended the meeting. Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Principal, Partap College of Education and Secretary, IPDA India welcomed all the guests and highlighted the key objectives of International Professional Development Association. She explained the role of school teachers and their professional development in strengthening the foundation of education sysytem. Reflections on Partap IPDA International Conference held on 22-23 February, 2020 were shown and discussion on poster exhibition and paper presentation based on conference theme was done.

Dr. Balwant Singh asserted that teachers and students all over the world are same and teaching is based on human relationships. To strengthen the knot of human relations, teachers need to be attentive and develop their own skills. For this, all the teaching professionals working at various private or government schools should keep abreast with latest knowledge and pedagogies.

Dr. Jagdev Singh spoke about five stages of education in an individual’s life and added that its responsibility of teachers of develop own efficiencies to contribute in holistic development of students.  Ms. Rajwinder Kaur proposed to establish teacher training programs in collaboration with IPDA India which will enhance trainees’ interactions and will help to hone their skills.

An Extension Lecture was held at the campus of Partap College of Education, Ludhiana on the ‘Role of Meditation in Self Development.’ Mr. Anil Bharti was the keynote speaker  who is a  president of Swami Vivekanand Swarg Ashram Trust, Model town extension, Ludhiana. Mrs Leena Bharti who is the volunteer of the pyramid spiritual societies movement wasalso present there. Mrs. Poonam Bala, the teacher incharge of Partap College’s Rotaract Team, welcomed the worthy guests and introduced them to all. She appreciated the efforts done by Mr. Anil Bharti and Mrs. Leena Bharti. She motivated the students to do works for the welfare of the society.

While describing the benefits of meditation, Mrs. Leena bharti told that by doing meditation the changes occur in the internal activities of body. Each cell of the body gets energized. Meditation is essential for physical, mental, spiritual and emotional development of personality. Mr. Anil Bharti also described that meditation is necessary for changing attitude, removing stress, anxiety, increasing concentration and providing  peace of mind. The power of meditation is also described by showing a video on Spiritual Reality.

Dr. ManpreetKaur vice –Principal of Partap college of Education   honoured the worthy chief guests by presenting ‘Award of Honour’. At the end she proposedvote of thanks  to all.

An extension lecture by Prof Zoya Birring from university of Texas, USA was held in Partap College of Education, Ludhiana. The Principal Dr. Balwant Singh welcomed Prof. Zoya.

Prof. Zoya commenced her lecture comparing Indian education system with that of USA. She said that the major difference between the two lies in the manner of evaluation. While Indian system of evaluation encourages us cramming and memorization, that in USA is based on logical process, to develop cognitive thinking and relate the problem to the real life situations. She said that everybody in USA has right to public education at the school level where lunch and text books are provided free of cost. In the colleges most of the students have to pay. She said that during her long experience of teaching, she has been consistently witnessing a change in the youth. Parental involvement is voluntary in USA schools. She also spoke about the special education programme in USA for the students with disabilities. She told the essential qualities of a good teacher including  mastery in the subject, kindness and compassion. A teacher’s role should be like a friend, guide, casual in teaching learning process. Teaching learning process must be interactive. Main emphasize is given on professional learning activities.

In her lecture, she had interaction with the students, who asked her several questions, which she answered to their entire satisfaction. In the end , Principal Dr. Balwant Singh along with Prof. Ramesh Inder Bal & Dr. Manpreet Kaur, vice principal of the college presented her a robe of honour. PARTAP COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, LUDHIANA

On 10^th October, 2015 an extension lecture was organized in Partap College of Education on the topic Personality Development & Education Today which was addressed by Prof. Lakhbir Singh (President, PAHAL, NGO). He was introduced as well as welcomed by the Principal of the college Dr. Balwant Singh.While introducing he shared to everyone that Professor Lakhbir Singh initiated this organization in 1996 along with few of his fellows and named it as “PAHAL” (An initiative for social development).it is a non government organization with sole objective of Holistic Personality Development. He further told the students that PAHAL is working for the human welfare. All the activities covered by this organization are based to serve humanity and then he invited the guest for the lecture.

Sh. Lakhbir Singh, in his lecture shared that this organization has signed a memorandum of understanding with this college in the year 2014. While discussing on personality development he said that right kind of attitude is prerequisite factor for developing personality. He further shared that the four aspects are important in one’s life i.e. Health, Environment, Communication and Education.

He said normally every person focused on education for whole life whether it is his own life or his childrens’ life but do we focus on the other areas which are also of prime importance. He explained his points by showing and justifying on the basis of percentage. He shared that education covers only 25% weightage in one’s life. So he summed up that everyone is ignoring 75% of total life. Through his lecture he motivated the total gathering to cover and focus on the other aspects of life which also includes service of others and to live positively.

He shared that though he was suffering with blood cancer but even then he believes in serving others. He added that the tragedy of now days is that we all are living for ourselves only, without bothering the welfare of the society. The change is possible only if the young generations not only understand but also actively participate in this. He said one has to replace the word self with us. He added his organization is working to give boost to the personal holistic development of the youth, which leads to development of the society at large.

PROF. LAKHBIR SINGH ADDRESSING THE GATHERING

After this he gave forms to the students who voluntary want to become members. He told that annual membership fee Rs. 500/ while Rs. 3000/ was the life membership fee. Around 20-22 students voluntary took the membership. Principal Sir said it’s not essential that only members are suppose to serve others who so ever feels like, can come ahead.

He shared after a keen observation of today’s society particularly youth for the last Seventeen years, it has been concluded that the present system is producing a consumerist personality, concentrated on self only. It has lost volunteerism totally. As a result every kind of degradation has set in. All over the world moral & social values have been diluted.

He shared that today’s world is facing dangerous diseases and calamities. The only way to sustainable development is an accurate infrastructure at every level or voluntary involvement of masses especially youth in every kind of development system, that needs an integrated personality but the circumstances are producing disintegrated personalities.

In the end the vote of thanks was given by the Principal Dr. Balwnt Singh. He told the gathering because of the true inclination of this organization, the management committee and administrative members gave the shape of collaboration in the year 2014.

He told the students that Baba Deep Singh Jee Saheed Charitable Society Faridabad Conferred ‘MANAV SEWA AWARD 2014’ award to Prof. Lakhbir Singh, Associate Professor in DAV College Jalandhar & President ‘PAHAL'(Youth organization) for his contribution towards society. He appreciated Prof. Lakhbir Singh for serving selflessly to mankind by blood donation, tree plantation, medical Camp, Youth Development, Water Conversation and other causes; he said even adversity of suffering from cancer could not stopped him. He honoured the guest with a college momento.

After receiving momento Prof. Lakhbir Singh remarked, he personally loves to come to Partap College as his thoughts match with the Principal Dr. Balwant Singh, who himself is social reformer and serving the society in the field of education. This lecture was really a perfect combination of moral, ethical and motivation thoughts.
